Beginning Computers One semester 9
Required Course
Upon completion of this course, students will know basic operations and concepts of the Macintosh and Windows Operating systems and use technology as a productivity tool, a communications tool, a research tool, and a problem-solving/decision-making tool. Students will demonstrate proficiency in keyboarding and software applications including word processing, presentation and multimedia programs, graphics, and the use of the Internet.

*Graphic Design and Printmaking One Year Course 11,12
Elective course

Students learn the basics of graphic design in preparation of original art involving typography, page layout and integrated graphic elements. Instruction will be given in the following areas: Elements of art and principles of design,; mechanical and computer design methods; printmaking; the finishing of graphic projects; and the historical and cultural development of graphics and the printing industry. This course is UC approved; it will satisfy the UC VPA requirement. Fee required.

*Digital Video Production One Year Course 11,12
Elective Course

Technology Lab Assistant One semester 11,12
Elective Course- See Mrs. Adams
Students in this class assist with technology in two computer labs. It is necessary to have a strong back ground in software applications on both Macintosh and Windows Operating systems. Individuals will aid the faculty and other students with projects related to technology.

Drafting/Computer Aided Design One year course Gr. 11/12
Elective Course
This is a full year course that is designed to introduce students to traditional drafting techniques and computer aided design (CAD) applications. Mechanical drawing will be emphasized during the first semester using the universal graphic language by means of which the form, size, color, and construction of an object can be described accurately and clearly. It is the language used by engineers and architects to develop and record their ideas and to transmit them to those who are to execute their designs. In the second semester, students will then be introduced to AutoCAD so that they may apply the concepts that were learned in the traditional drafting segment of the course. Although AutoCAD applications have effectively eliminated the need for traditional drafting tools, the importance of traditional drafting methods will still be stressed and are considered essential in higher education engineering courses. There is a $65.00 fee for the purchase of drafting kits and drawing paper. A textbook will also be required.

* UC approved course - satisfies the Art requirement
